About

Julie Hixson Suijk has more than 25 years of experience as a collaborative human resources leader. Her areas of expertise include HR strategy, leadership, and organizational development. 

 

In her most recent engagement, Julie was the vice president and chief human resources officer at UVA Health-NoVa and Culpeper.  As chief human resources officer, she oversaw all human resource management functions for UVA Health-NoVa and Culpeper. This included the creation and execution of a talent strategy to achieve the organization's strategic, operational and financial objectives. In addition, she led the HR workstream team chartered with integrating the HR function with UVA Health and designing and implementing the Oracle Human Capital Management system.

 

Previously, Julie was the vice president of human resources for Valley Health System in Winchester, Va., where she oversaw compensation, benefit programs, employee occupational health, and talent acquisition for 6,000 employees. During her tenure at Valley, Julie created strategic business partnerships and increased employee benefits satisfaction.

 

Prior to Valley Health System, Julie served as vice president of human resources for Wondrium (formerly known as The Great Courses) in Chantilly, Va., where she created an award-winning employee wellness program and drove a 25% increase in employee engagement over 3 years.

 

Julie earned a master’s degree in organization development and knowledge management from George Mason University in Arlington, Va., and a bachelor’s degree in finance from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Va. She has been certified by the Society for Human Resource Management and the HR Certification Institute.
